With two days down (three for m4) the heat is on...
M2 and M3 were unlucky enough to get bumped on day 2 by quickly ascending crews (Catz and Magdalene II) - good luck to them to make amends in the final days' racing!
M4 did a great job turning their luck around by bumping Downing III straight back on day 3! Let's hope they can keep up the good run on Saturday.
W2 are on for a great result, proving they've got more than just luck on their side with a well deserved bump on Jesus II- they're now in sight of the first division and have the women's second boat headship- keep it until Saturday and there'll be plenty to celebrate!
W1 have been chased by some very fast crews and are down 2, fingers crossed that they too can turn this around. M1 hold on to third place after two rowovers and are edging closer to Downing- a bump tomorrow would mean that the Lent's headship is still for the taking.
Best of luck to all crews!
Lent Bumps 2010 began today in earnest with a good showing from the lower boats: M4 were unlucky enough to get bumped by Christs III after first-day mishaps and M3 got stuck into the carnage to enjoy a technical rowover. A solid rowover for M2 and special congratulations to W2 for a bump in what is almost every crew member's first race!
The first boats get stuck in tomorrow as the second boats get a day off. Keep checking the Bumps section (under Racing) for more reports.
Well done to NW2 for winning the Plate at Clare Novice's Regatta! All to play for at Fairbairns this week - good luck to all novice and senior crews.
Congratulations to Will Gray who secured himself a top 10 finish in
Scullers Head, up there with the likes of Graham Benton and only 13seconds off of Greg Searle, Olympic Gold medal winner... An amazing achievement.
Congratulations to the IV- who won Uni IVs in a time of 10.45
Congratulations to Bryony Shelton, the new captain of the women's boat club. She has taken over from Alex who had to step down for academic reasons.
An LMBC 2- came 5th in IM2 at pairs head beating all other Cambridge crews in their category.
There are 4 Men’s boats and 1 Women’s boats competing in Uni IVs from the 2/11/09
The top IV- and IV+ will be competing in IVs Head on the 14/11/09
Two LMBC oarsmen are competing in Scullers Head on the 28/11/09
The Coaches Meeting was held last Saturday with an excellent talk and demonstrations (some of which I for one will never forget!!) from Steve Gunn (ARA/World Class Start). A solid framework was established which will allow the technical progression of the club over the whole year.
The third volume of the History of the Lady Margaret Boat Club has been published, and is available from the College Development Office.
