Merivale Challenge Ergo Competition

The Lady Margaret Boat Club is pleased to announce the return of its annual ergo competition in the form of the Merivale Challenge Ergo Championships. The competition will be raced over a distance of 2km on the Friday of Week 1 of May term (Friday 27th April), at Goldie boathouse. There will also be a BBQ on the hard during the event, with free food for competitors, and the opportunity to meet Steve Trapmore and members of CUBC, along with coaches from CUWBC and CULRC to discuss the various development squads and trialling for the Boat Races.

M1 at the Head of the River Race

M1 finish 112th in the biggest Head Race of the year, and were the 2nd fastest college, as they finish off the Lent Term with a strong row.

HORR, the main head race of the season for senior crews, provided an opportunity for the crew to race over a longer distance - 6.8km - compared with the shorter bumps course. Having had a variety of rows during Lent bumps, the crews focus was on delivering a strong race and hopefully a top 100 finish.

W1 win Women's Novice Eights at Kingston Head!

Yesterday saw W1 and W2 catching a coach to London at 6am to race in London at Kingston Head. We were unfortunate not to be able to race at WEHoRR this year due to it clashing with bumps so did Kingston Head as an alternative. Kingston Head is a 5.2km race downstream from Hampton Court Palace to Kingston Rowing Club. Everyone was excited to race off-Cam, especially those who had never done it before, and we were looking forward to an opportunity to build on this term's good results.

Lent Bumps Round-Up: Day Five

The final day of the 2012 Lent Bumps, in which only the mens crews were racing, produced great results for M2 and M3 who both finished up 3, while M1 and M4 finished up 1.

M1: Rowed Over

Lent Bumps Round-Up: Day Four

Friday marked the final day of racing for the women, with a string of solid rowovers to mark the occasion. M2 and M3 both bumped up, while M1 inched ever closer to Downing.

M1: Rowed Over

The first men had a much punchier row on Friday. After a faster start, we hit the first corner at 38 after the stride, and consolidated with a big 10 down the gut. We lifted it again once straight out of grassy and motored away from First and Third. As we raced down the reach our commitment and desire to put pressure on Downing only grew and we produced some of our best rowing in the closing minutes of the course.

Lent Bumps Round-Up: Day Three

Revenge for both M2 and W2 on the third day of bumps. Past the halfway point now...

M1: Rowed Over

Lent Bumps Round-Up: Day Two

The second day of bumps saw bumps for every mens crew racing, and a huge amount of red on the bank! Maggie are slowly but surely taking over the river.

M1: Bumped First and Third to move to 3rd on the river
